The first phase of the My Thuy Port project in central Quang Tri province is slated for completion by 2026, its investor has confirmed

The project officially resumed in March 2024 after a four-year hiatus.

Spearheaded by the My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company (MTIP), the project received investment approval from the Prime Minister  on January 4, 2019.

Situated in Hai An commune, Hai Lang district, the 685-hectare project has a total investment capital exceeding VND14.23 trillion (nearly $561 million), with the investor's contribution amounting to VND2.143 trillion ($84.4 million).

The project is divided into three phases, comprising 10 berths totally.

In the first phase (2018-2025), four berths will be constructed to accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 DWT, featuring a total quay length of 1,300 meters, a wharf length of 1,341.5 meters, and a width of 41.5 meters. These initial four berths, with a total investment of nearly VND5 trillion (nearly $195 million), are expected to be completed in 2026.

Phases 2 and 3 are planned for the 2026-2036 period.

The My Thuy Port aims to serve Quang Tri’s Southeast Economic Zone, local industrial parks, and facilitate the transit of goods from Laos and northeastern Thailand via the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC).
