Foreign service providers pay $166mln in taxes in 1H

Some 57 cross-border service providers paid taxes totaling over VND3.944 trillion ($166 million) via the portal of the General Department of Taxation for foreign providers in the first half of the year, figures from the department show.

Among them were major providers such as Google, Apple, Facebook, Netflix, TikTok, and Microsoft.

The figure brings the total amount of taxes they have paid since the portal was put in place on March 21, 2022 to VND7.422 trillion ($313 million).

Vietnam is one of the four leading ASEAN countries in operating an electronic portal for foreign suppliers to declare and pay taxes.

Last year, the General Department of Taxation launched an e-portal connected with domestic e-commerce platforms, which receives data on business organizations and individuals via such platforms. It aims to ease tax procedures and save costs for enterprises.
