Hanoi has set a target of the digital economy accounting for 40 per cent of its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) by 2030 under its general planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.
GRDP per capita is to reach $13,500-14,000.
The city’s urbanization rate is targeted at 65-75 per cent.
Under its planning, Hanoi is to see rapid, sustainable, creative, and inclusive development, and become a growth pole able to lead and promote development in the region.
It will also focus on green development and the circular economy.
To meet the targets, the planning puts forward three economic development scenarios for the capital. GRDP growth will reach 9.5-10 per cent in the first scenario, 8.5-9.5 per cent in the second, and 7.5-8.5 per cent in the third.
Pillars expected to shape the city’s development are culture and heritage; green transition, digital transformation, and the circular economy; uniform and modern infrastructure; the digital society, the digital economy, and smart urban areas; and science and technology and innovation.
Addressing a consultancy conference in Hanoi on January 9, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said the planning is expected to serve as a development locomotive for not only the Hanoi area but also for the Red River Delta.
He asked experts and scientists to make further recommendations on the planning so that work can be completed for early examination and adoption in accordance with existing laws.
