Vietnam exported nearly $260 million worth of garment and textile products to Russia in the first four months of the year, up 134% compared to the same period of 2023, figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show.
Although Vietnam’s export revenue to Russia has kept increasing but it remains modest in comparison with the total value of garment and textile products imported by Russia, according to Vietnam's commercial counsellor in Russia Duong Hoang Minh.
There is still ample room to boost the bilateral cooperation in this field, he said.
Russia is a big market with potential for cooperation with Vietnam in this field while Vietnamese garment and textile products are of high quality and meet consumer references and fashion trends, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi during a meeting with a delegation of representatives from major garment and textile enterprises in Vietnam who are on a working visit to Russia to seek export opportunities.
Accordingly, it is considered the right time for Vietnamese enterprises to boost exports to this market, according to Mr. Khoi.
In 2023, revenue from garment and textile products exported to Russia reached $490 million, a year-on-year rise of 125%.
