Government allocates $233mln for transport projects in Quang Ngai

The government has decided to allocate nearly VND5.5 trillion ($233 million) from the mid-term public investment capital plan for central Quang Ngai province to complete two existing transport projects and begin construction of two new links, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Part of the funding will be used to complete the expansion of National Highway No. 24B and the upgrading of the Thong Nhat railway line.

The 108-km highway connects Dung Quat Economic Zone and Tinh Phong Industrial Park with districts in Quang Ngai and connects Quang Ngai with the central highlands’ Kon Tum province.

Quang Ngai will also begin construction of two new transport projects: the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section of the North-South Expressway and the Vinh - Nha Trang railway line.

The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section has a total length of 88 km and investment of over VND20.4 trillion ($864 million).

The Vinh - Nha Trang railway line will connect Vinh station with Nha Trang station at a total length of 995 km. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of this year.
