The government will continue its fiscal and tax policies to support businesses and individuals in 2023, with many of the challenges and difficulties in 2022 forecast to continue, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi has said.
Speaking at the regular government press conference in Hanoi on January 3, he said that, in 2022, many fiscal and tax support policies were introduced to support businesses and individuals suffering from difficulties posed by Covid-19.
For example, value added tax was reduced from 10 per cent to 8 per cent on most items, while tax payments were delayed to support liquidity and cash flow at businesses, land taxes were cut, and environment protection taxes on gasoline products were reduced to the floor level.
The total support package amounted to VND233 trillion ($10.1 billion).
The Ministry of Finance has suggested the government consider and decide on delayed payments of several kinds of taxes for businesses and individuals and reductions of land lease costs.
The suggested support policies are broadly similar to those applied in 2022, except for adjustments relating to types of goods and level of support.
