Central Ha Tinh province 's foreign trade recorded mixed trends in the first nine months of 2026. While outbound shipments showed signs of recovery in September, cumulative exports since the beginning of the year fell 4.57%, whereas import turnover jumped 17.79% year-on-year.
According to data from the Provincial People’s Committee, September export turnover was estimated at $175.8 million, up 7.99% month-on-month. In the first nine months of 2026, total exports reached approximately $1.42 billion, down 4.57% compared with the same period last year.
Steel and steel billets remained the province’s core export earner. In September, shipments of this group stood at $122.60 million, bringing nine-month export turnover to more than $1 billion. However, growth in this flagship category showed signs of slowing compared to the same period in 2025, weighing down the province's overall export volume.
In contrast, wood chips and textile fibers recorded robust gains. Over the nine-month period, wood chip export revenue reached 142.04% of the volume recorded during the same period last year, while textile fibers surged 116.92% year-on-year.
Garments and textiles generated $32.70 million in export earnings, equivalent to 93.83% of the figure logged in the first nine months of 2025 (down 6.17%). The figures reflect divergence across commodity groups: while niche products expanded, mainstay categories faced downward pressure.
On the import side, September turnover was estimated at $320 million. Across the first nine months of 2026, total imports reached more than $2,52 billion, climbing 17.79% year-on-year.
Provincial authorities noted that rising imports reflect robust local demand for raw materials and industrial inputs to support manufacturing. Meanwhile, the decline in exports indicates that merchandise trade across the province remains uneven.
