Central Ha Tinh province posted strong export growth in April, pushing its total export turnover in the first four months of 2026 beyond the $500 million mark, driven mainly by steel and billet shipments.
According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, export revenue in April reached $132.5 million, up nearly 26% from the previous month. In the January–April period, total exports were estimated at $503.38 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%.
Steel and steel billets continued to dominate the export structure, accounting for more than 85% of total turnover. In April alone, exports of these products were valued at $113.5 million, up 20.4% month-on-month. Over the four-month period, steel and billet exports reached $429.25 million, rising 12.5% compared to the same period last year.
Alongside steel, Ha Tinh’s textile and garment sector also recorded solid growth. Export turnover in April rose nearly 30% from March to $12.63 million, supported by effective use of free trade agreements such as the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which have helped businesses expand into key markets including the United States and Europe.
In the forestry sector, woodchip exports showed signs of recovery after a sluggish start to the year. Export volumes in April jumped nearly 43% from the previous month, aided by efforts to tap new markets in addition to traditional buyers such as China.
Ha Tinh aims to achieve export turnover of $2.2 billion in 2026, up about 10% from 2025.
