Northern Hai Duong province granted investment licenses for 29 projects this year, as of May 20, with a combined registered capital of over $186 million, including $151 million from FDI projects.
The total registered FDI capital in the five-month period accounted for 22% of the annual target, much lower than expectation.
Meanwhile, 16 existing projects had their capital added with a total of over $42 million.
New projects focus on manufacturing and processing, electricity and electronics industries with investors mainly from Hong Kong (China), Singapore, South Korea, China and Taiwan (China).
Cumulatively, the province has so far attracted 555 FDI projects from 27 countries and territories with a total investment capital of over $10.4 billion. These projects have directly generated jobs for 230,000 workers.
