Hai Duong & Hai Phong to pilot double-decker tourist buses

Anh Tú -

Buses link city centers and tourism sites with airports.

The Ministry of Transport has licensed northern Hai Duong province and neighboring Hai Phong city to pilot the use of double-decker buses to transport passengers from city centers and tourism sites to Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi and Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong.

The pilot project is aimed at smoothing people’s travel while increasing traffic safety and preventing traffic congestion.

The Prime Minister gave the go-ahead in 2016 to ten localities to pilot double-decker buses in tourism activities over five years, including transporting passengers to airports.

The localities were Hanoi, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Thua Thien-Hue, Lam Dong, Kien Giang, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Airports within the pilot were Noi Bai, Da Nang, Phu Bai, Lien Khuong, Van Dong, Phu Quoc, and Tan Son Nhat.
