The People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just approved the investment policy for the construction of the Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port project.
According to this decision, the project will be implemented in Hong Phuc and Kien Quoc communes in Ninh Giang district of the northern province, covering an area of approximately 27.07 hectares with a capacity of handling 3 million tons of goods per year. The total investment capital for the project is estimated at VND1.49 trillion ($58.72 million) and its investor will be the Vietnam Maritime Corporation.
The project's operating period is 50 years, from the date the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee approves the investment policy for the project as well as its investor.
In the first phase, construction will include key infrastructure: hydraulic works, an area for logistics outside the dike, technical infrastructure, and other facilities, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2027.
For the second phase, construction will include key facilities such as warehouses, office areas, technical infrastructure, and other facilities. It is anticipated that by the fourth quarter of 2028, construction will be completed, and the entire project within the dike area will be operational.
Hai Duong province requires the investor to strictly comply with relevant laws concerning investment, land, environment, waterway traffic, disaster prevention, fire safety, and to be subject to inspection and supervision by competent authorities during the project's implementation.
Once completed and operational, the Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port will play an important role in enhancing transportation, logistics, and multimodal transport connectivity, serving the loading, storage, and distribution of goods in the region. This port project will contribute to attracting investment into local industrial parks and clusters, while also promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
Ninh Giang Inland Waterway Port will also create an important link between Hai Dương province and the seaports in neighboring Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province, facilitating the connection of domestic goods as well as international import and export activities.
