Authorities of Hai Phong port city in northern Vietnam have granted an investment certificate to VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company for the construction of the Hai Phong LNG Power Plant, with a designed capacity of 4,800 MW, according to the Management Board of Hai Phong Economic Zone.

The projected plant, located on more than 98.5 hectares at Tan Trao Industrial Park in Kien Hung commune, carries a total investment capital of over VND178 trillion ($6.71 billion).

It will be implemented in two phases: the first, from 2025 to 2030, will generate 1,600 MW, while the second, from 2031 to 2035, will add 3,200 MW.

The plant will operate under a 50-year term starting from the date of approval.
