The People’s Committee of northern Hai Phong city has proposed a financial package to support vocational training by 2030 with a total fund of over VND534 billion ($21 million).
The fund will give priority to nine industries, including logistics, industrial electricity, welding, automotive technology, information technology (software application), hotel management, nursing and aquaculture.
The plan is aimed at handling labor shortage, particularly skilled workers. Many businesses in the city, especially FDI enterprises, find it hard to recruit skilled laborers, forcing them to employ some 30% of workers from other localities.
Hai Phong has one economic zone and 14 industrial parks with over 194,000 workers.
The city targets to become a modern industrial city, an international logistics center and an international center of scientific-technological training, research, application and development by 2030.
