Mr. Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, has signed a decision, approving the route and location plan for Urban Railway Line 5 (Van Cao - Ngoc Khanh - Lang - Hoa Lac section).

According to the decision, the route and location plan for Urban Railway Line 5, at a 1/500 scale, was prepared by the Hanoi Institute for Urban-Rural Planning in 2025 and appraised by the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture.

The main line will start at the Van Cao – Hoang Hoa Tham intersection and conclude at Thach Binh station (Hoa Lac), with a total length of nearly 40 km. Additionally, the project includes two connecting branches to Depot No. 1 (in Son Dong and Duong Hoa communes) and Depot No. 2 (in Hoa Lac commune), with a combined length of approximately 4.8 km for these branches.

Furthermore, the entire line will comprise 20 stations, including 6 underground stations, 3 elevated stations, and 11 at-grade stations.
