Hanoi plans to develop two new cities by 2045

The Hanoi People’s Committee plans to build two new cities in the capital’s northern and western reaches under a development plan to 2045.

The new city to the west will include Hoa Lac and Xuan Mai urban areas and may expand to the Tich and Bui Rivers. It will be a city of science and technology and education and training, with a total area of 251 sq km and a population of around 1.2 million.

Meanwhile, the city to the north will be targeted at services and international integration in connection with Noi Bai International Airport and a national economic corridor with the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai area being a driving force for development.

Its area will total 633 sq km, comprising Dong Anh, Soc Son, and Me Ling districts, and it will have a population of 3.25 million by 2045.
