Hanoi has set a target of increasing its urbanization rate to 60-62 per cent by 2025 as part of an action program issued by local authorities to implement a Politburo resolution on the planning, construction, management, and sustainable development of urban areas in Vietnam.
The rate is expected to rise to 65-75 per cent by 2030.
Vietnam’s capital plans to complete planning for all districts and satellite urban areas and the renovation and reconstruction of old apartment buildings by 2025.
It will invest in building new hospitals, with priority given to the early completion of four large general hospitals at gateways to the city in order to reach the targeted 30-35 beds per 10,000 people by 2025.
Hanoi also plans to invest in building 2-3 smart urban areas and to have 3-5 urban areas recognized as meeting regional and international standards by 2030.
