Hanoi has approved a proposal to expand Ngoc Hoi Station to integrate with stations and depots along other railway lines, including the North-South high-speed railway.

It has maintained plans agreed to with the Ministry of Transport, under which the North-South high-speed railway will run from Ngoc Hoi Station to Thu Thiem Station in Ho Chi Minh City.

The depot at the Hanoi end was originally scheduled to be at Thuong Tin under a pre-feasibility study for the project, 3.6 km from Ngoc Hoi and on an area of 85 ha.

However, after reviewing planning for railway stations in the city, it was agreed that expanding Ngoc Hoi would be the optimal solution for the city’s long-term development plan.

Ngoc Hoi Station will cover an area of 171 ha.

The 1,545-km North-South high-speed railway will pass through 20 cities and provinces between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
