The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has directed the municipal Department of Construction to accelerate efforts to meet the Government’s target of building 100,000 social housing units by 2030.

The department has been tasked with allocating land to social housing project developers, who will be required to complete necessary procedures and finish construction within 12 months of receiving land allocation.

Between 2021 and 2025, the city completed 5,619 social housing units, with an additional 2,874 expected by the end of 2025. To date, HCM City has completed five social housing projects with over 2,300 units, along with a housing project for workers, providing 368 units.

To achieve the 2030 goal, the city aims to complete between 9,400 and 28,000 units annually from 2026 to 2030.
