Ho Chi Minh City maintained its pace of economic development in the third quarter of 2023, with GRDP growth estimated at 6.71 per cent year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Planning and Investment.
Growth for the first nine months of the year was estimated at 4.75 per cent year-on-year.
During the nine-month period, the city’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased 3.2 per cent over the same period last year. Total retail sales of goods and services, meanwhile, rose 8.6 per cent year-on-year.
The city welcomed over 3.56 million foreign tourists and nearly 27 million domestic visitors, up 69 per cent and 24.9 per cent year-on-year, respectively. Total tourism revenue reached more than VND125.46 trillion ($5.2 billion), a year-on-year rise of 35.8 per cent.
There were 37,224 new enterprises established in the city, up 13.1 per cent year-on-year.
