Businesses in Ho Chi Minh City have prepared products for the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday totaling over VND22 trillion ($916 million), according to the city’s Department of Industry and Trade.
They include more than VND8.5 trillion ($354 million) for goods in the city’s market stabilization program.
Products in the program will make up 25-43 per cent of the total.
Forty-five businesses have registered to join the program to date, and are ready to supply more goods when needed, to prevent any shortages or price increases.
An estimated 7,600 tons of products will be supplied to the city each day via the three wholesale markets of Thu Duc, Hoc Mon, and Binh Dien. This is estimated to increase to 13,000-15,000 tons a day as Tet nears.
