Ho Chi Minh City’s trade turnover stood at $101.58 billion in the first eleven months of 2022, maintaining its leading position among localities nationwide.

The latest report from the General Department of Vietnam Customs shows that the southern city’s trade turnover far exceeded those of other localities, with northern Bac Ninh province following with $78.55 billion and southern Binh Duong province $54.4 billion.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Customs Dinh Ngoc Thang said the city’s exports and imports are estimated to reach about $140 billion by the end of December, up 9.8 per cent year-on-year, with total revenue of some VND138 trillion ($5.9 billion).

However, the city posted a trade deficit of $14 billion, demonstrating a slowdown in production-for-export activities during the closing months of the year as a result of inflation in some key markets.

Vietnam’s key exports include agro-forestry-fishery products, garments and textiles, leather and footwear, phones and components, and electronics products.
