Ho Chi Minh City must work hard to reach its GRDP growth target of 7.5-8 per cent this year, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council Nguyen Thi Le has said.

She made the comment in her closing remarks at the 10th meeting of the Council, which ended on July 12.

This is part of 21 key socio-economic targets set for the city’s development this year.

Ms. Le also instructed the municipal People’s Committee to complete the smart city master plan, speed up construction of infrastructure, improve administrative reform and the business and investment environment, and tackle difficulties facing businesses.

Participants at the meeting discussed and approved 65 important resolutions for socio-economic development, including one on the implementation of the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 98 on piloting several mechanisms and policies for the city’s development.

They said the Resolution should be promptly implemented to facilitate breakthroughs and mobilize different resources for development investment, while exploiting the city’s potential and advantages.
