HCMC to expand road to Cat Lai Port

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has submitted a plan to the municipal People’s Council to expand Nguyen Thi Dinh Road, leading to Cat Lai Port, to help ease congestion.

The 2-km road will be expanded to a roadbed width of 30 meters.

Total investment capital is estimated at over VND2 trillion ($83.3 million).

Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and be completed after a year.

Cat Lai Port leads the country in terms of cargo volumes, accounting for 85 per cent of all container cargo in the southern region and 50 per cent of the country’s.

Routes leading to the port are often congested due to a huge number of vehicles travelling each day, particularly container trucks. An estimated 19,000 vehicles travel to the port every day.
