Ho Chi Minh City is expected to invest about VND3.197 trillion ($123 million) in a new Rach Doi Bridge and a 3.3 km approach road, enhancing traffic connectivity between the southern area of the city and its nearby Tay Ninh Province, according to a report by the online newspaper of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV)
According to a proposal submitted by the City People’s Committee to the City People’s Council, the new Rach Doi Bridge will replace the existing steel bridge on Le Van Luong Street, which was built before 1975 and has deteriorated.
The bridge and approach road will have a total length of about 3.3 km, with a design speed of 80 km/h. The project’s starting point is on Le Van Luong Street, in Hiep Phuoc Commune, HCM City, about 175 m from Rach Tom Bridge toward Can Giuoc. The endpoint will connect with Provincial Road 826C, in Can Giuoc Commune, Tay Ninh Province.
The project is expected to use about 14.6 ha of land, of which approximately 9.4 ha will require compensation; the remainder consists of rivers and existing roads. The preliminary total investment is about VND3.197 trillion, sourced from the city’s budget.
According to the plan, the project will be implemented during 2026–2029. The southern city expects to approve the investment policy, organize an architectural design competition, conduct surveys, and prepare a feasibility study report in 2026.
In 2027, the project is expected to be officially approved, with design, cost estimation, land clearance, and contractor selection completed. Construction will begin in the fourth quarter of 2027 and is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in 2029.
