Long Kieng Bridge in Ho Chi Minh City’s Nha Be district officially opened to traffic on September 8 after 22 years.

The project was approved by the municipal People’s Committee in 2001, with total investment of VND589 billion ($24.5 million). Construction was estimated to cost VND211 billion and resettlement VND325 billion ($13.5 million).

However, the project was delayed due to obstacles relating to site clearance. Construction then got underway in August 2018.

It was then postponed from December 2019 due to continued site clearance issues. Fifty-three per cent of construction had been completed at that time.

In September last year, the project received clean ground for construction.

Long Kieng Bridge is an important infrastructure project in the southern city, linking Nhon Duc and Phuoc Kien communes in Nha Be district.
