Central Hue city’s economy recorded positive growth across services, industry, exports and investment during the first nine months of 2026, according to the city’s authorities.
At its recent regular meeting, the Hue People’s Committee estimated that gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by 9-9.5% in the nine-month period. The industry and construction sector expanded by 11-12%, while services grew 8.7-9.2% and accounted for around 51-52% of the economic structure. Agriculture, forestry and fisheries increased by 4-4.5%.
Tourism remained an important contributor to the growth. The city welcomed more than 6.4 million visitors, up 29% year on year, while tourism revenue was estimated at VND15.4 trillion ($585 million), up 60%.
Retail sales and consumer service revenue reached VND57.665 trillion ($2.19 billion), an increase of 19.2%. Meanwhile, exports rose 19.4% to approximately $1.33 billion.
Industrial production also remained a key growth driver, with the industrial production index increasing by around 11%.
Investment activity also showed positive momentum. Total realised investment was estimated at VND28.516 trillion ($1.08 billion), up 12.4%. The city granted investment approval to 41 new projects with combined registered capital exceeding VND24.52 trillion, including six foreign-invested projects with registered capital of $158.9 million.
