Vietnam’s information and communications sector posted revenue of more than VND1.6 quadrillion ($68 billion) in the first half of the year, a year-on-year fall of 8.66 per cent, figures from the Ministry of Information and Communications show.
The figure is equal to 39.6 per cent of the annual target.
The information and communications technology (ICT) industry recorded turnover of VND1.45 quadrillion ($61 billion), down 10.35 per cent year-on-year, including $51.5 billion from exporting hardware and electronics, down 9.56 per cent.
The declines were attributed to difficulties in the global economy as the recession in many countries is yet to ease, resulting in low consumption of IT products.
The Russia - Ukraine conflict and Covid-19 pandemic also affected the sector, resulting in falls in IT exports from Vietnam.
