New road link through Lao Cai province gets underway

Construction of the CW01 package of nearly VND500 billion ($21.13 million), connecting northern Lai Chau province with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Highway through Lao Cai province under the Northern Mountainous Traffic Connection project, begun on September 19. The key project has total investment of more than $235 million, from Asian Development Bank (ADB) ODA loans, Australian Government grants, and domestic counterpart funding.

Bottlenecks in public investment projects discouraging contractors

Addressing the Vietnam Socio-Economic Forum 2022, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hiep, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Construction Contractors, proposed several solutions to speed up the disbursement of public investment capital. He said the first bottleneck is that payment and settlement procedures and investment procedures remain cumbersome, and the assignment of responsibilities has not been clarified.
