Japan’s largest power generation company JERA is seeking investment opportunities in Vietnam in renewable energy such as offshore wind power, according to its Chief Global Strategist and Senior Managing Executive Officer Mr. Steven Winn, the Government News reported.

Speaking at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Hanoi on July 26, Mr. Winn said the corporation also wants to join the process of converting coal-fired power plants into gas-fired power plants with the mixture of new types of energy such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, and biomass in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Ha said Vietnam has made strong commitments to reach net-zero emissions and wants energy businesses from Japan and Vietnam to closely cooperate in implementing green energy projects and renewable energy projects under the country’s National Electricity Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.
