Vietnam posted total trade revenue of $374.23 billion in the first seven months of this year, down 13.9 per cent against the same period last year, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show.

Exports totaled $194.73 billion, a year-on-year decline of 10.6 per cent.

Imports were valued at $179.50 billion, down 17.1 per cent year-on-year.

This resulted in the country posting a trade surplus of $15.23 billion, up 1.34 per cent year-on-year.

In July alone, export revenue came in at $29.68 billion, a 0.8 per cent increase against June.

There were 30 items in the seven-month period with export turnover of over $1 billion, accounting for 91.6 per cent of the total. Five posted turnover of $10 billion or more, accounting for 57.6 per cent.

The US remained Vietnam’s largest export market, with total turnover of $52.4 billion, while China was its largest import source, with $58.6 billion.
