The Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province recorded positive socio-economic development in the first five months of the year, with high growth seen in industrial production, public investment disbursement, and retail sales of products and services, according to the provincial Statistics Office.
The province posted a 10.09 per cent increase year-on-year in its Index of Industrial Production (IIP), of which the minerals sector rose 8.77 per cent and manufacturing and processing 10.08 per cent.
Total export revenue stood at $329.76 million, up 1.14 per cent year-on-year.
The province disbursed over VND1.1 trillion ($46 million) worth of public investment capital in the five-month period, equivalent to 17.7 per cent of the annual plan.
Total retail sales of products and services was over VND54 trillion ($2.2 trillion), a year-on-year increase of 24.1 per cent.
