During his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang in Hanoi on November 5, Mr. Jifan Gao, Chairman and General Manager of Trina Solar, a Chinese company specializing in photovoltaic modules and smart energy solutions, told his host that the company has decided to inject an additional $420 million into its ongoing projects in northern Thai Nguyen province, according to a report from the Government News.

Trina Solar has invested an initial $478 million in two plants in the province’s Yen Binh Industrial Park.

With this additional capital, Vietnam becomes Trina Solar’s largest overseas investment destination in the photovoltaic field.

Deputy Prime Minister Quang welcomed the group’s investment expansion plans, saying that renewable energy development is part of Vietnam’s efforts to realize its commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.

He told his guest that Vietnam is building and promulgating specific mechanisms and policies to spur the development of renewable energy, including solar energy.

The Deputy Prime Minister asked that Trina Solar help Vietnamese businesses engage in the global supply chain in general and its supply chain in particular.
