A delegation from the Mekong Delta province of Long An, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council, paid a working visit to South Korea from October 13 - 16.
During the visit, the delegation met with some South Korean partners to promote investment cooperation.
At a meeting with Former South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in Seoul, the two sides highlighted the bilateral cooperation for applying green economy and circular economy models in Long An province. The former President also shared South Korea's experiences in green infrastructure development and encouraged the Vietnamese province to apply them.
The delegation also surveyed the STS Group's prominent urban, commercial, and service complex project in Gyeonggi-do province. STS Group expressed its interest in studying a similar project in Long An, with an aim to develop a smart urban area combined with a commercial center and high-end services, thus creating a modern living space that meets international standards. This would not only attract major brands but also contribute positively to the province's development, according to the group.
STS also proposed to invest in a Pangyo Techno Valley model - an advanced high-tech and innovation complex in Long An province in the near future.
The delegation also met with the leadership of GS Energy Corporation which introduced key energy projects in South Korea and committed to soon launching a $3-billion project for the Long An I and II LNG power plants in Long An province.
During a meeting with CS Wind, a wind tower manufacturing corporation, both parties discussed detailed plans to expand and enhance investment in Long An, with focus placed on increasing production capacity and scale of a project invested by CS Wind in Long An province. Long An authorities agreed to optimize investment conditions to ensure the project's highest efficiency, thus contributing to the sustainable development of both Long An province and the investor.
CS Wind and Long An - headquartered Dong Tam Group have reached an agreement on cooperating to build an offshore wind tower manufacturing plant on an area of 50ha in Long An province with a total investment of $200 million. The Long An leadership expressed its hope that Dong Tam Group and CS Wind would soon put into practice a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the project signed between the two groups, the project to fruition.
According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, South Korea is currently the largest investor in Vietnam, with total investment capital of $88.2 billion, and the third-largest foreign investor in Long An province, with total registered capital of over $12.4 billion.
