Though gaining many achievements, businesses in Vietnam continue to grapple with difficulties in implementing policies relating to imports and exports, a conference on March 2 seeking measures to remove obstacles facing enterprises in import and export activities in the four northern cities and provinces of Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, and Quang Ninh heard.
The four localities hold great potential in economic development and are home to many industrial parks, export processing zones, and import-export enterprises.
Total export revenue of businesses in the four localities was estimated at $46 billion in 2022, accounting for nearly 12.3 per cent of the country’s total.
Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hoang Quang Phong said the results show that the business community has worked to overcome challenges and contribute to Vietnam’s achievements in international trade.
They still face many difficulties, however, in implementing policies relating to import and export activities, he went on.
It is necessary to provide information and address the difficulties and obstacles for businesses as well as enhance their participation in law and policy building activities, he added.
Speaking at the meeting, authorities in Hai Duong province said they have committed to creating the best possible conditions for businesses to study and conduct investment as well as production and trade activities, including imports and exports.
