The second component project of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway has been allocated an additional VND3.25 trillion ($136 million) from the State budget as public investment capital for the medium term in 2021-2025.
With the previously allocated VND837 billion ($35 million), total investment in this second component project now stands at VND4.087 trillion ($171 million).
The second component project, more than 37 km long, runs through Can Tho city.
Construction of the 188 km Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway was officially launched on June 17 at an event in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The project is divided into four component projects to be implemented by the People’s Committees of Can Tho city and An Giang, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang provinces, which the new link passes through.
This is the first horizontal axis expressway in the Mekong Delta, connecting the region with national highways. Costing a total of nearly VND44.7 trillion ($1.8 billion), the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway is one of six key expressways that help transform the Delta and connect it with economic hubs, international border gates, and ports.
