The Ministry of Transport has said that the government has prioritized allocating more than VND7 trillion ($300 million) to four projects in the Mekong Delta’s Vinh Long province by 2025, including upgrading National Highways No. 57 and 53, the My Thuan 2 Bridge project, and the My Thuan - Can Tho Highway. The 23-km My Thuan - Can Tho Highway is expected to be completed and opened in April 2023.

The Ministry of Transport will prioritize nearly VND15 trillion ($639.58 million) in medium-term public investment capital to implement a number of urgent traffic projects in northern Thanh Hoa province. These projects are expected to give a “push” to the province’s socio-economic development.

From now to 2025, in addition to accelerating the progress of existing projects, north-central Thanh Hoa province will prioritize investment in a number of key new traffic projects, including the Eastern Ring Road No. 3 with total capital of more than VND3.3 trillion ($141.9 million). National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has spoken about the importance and implementation of a specific mechanism for five key national traffic projects submitted by the government to the NA on June 6. He also said that these will be completed by 2025, creating a breakthrough in the country’s infrastructure.

Central Quang Binh province is speeding up site clearance for the construction of the Nhat Le 3 coastal road and bridge project. With a length of 85.4 km and total investment of VND2.2 trillion ($94.75 million), the project is expected to be completed in 2026 and help connect the coastal area of Quang Binh with the South Ha Tinh - North Quang Binh general economic zone, promoting the strengths of the local deep-water port cluster and creating links within the region and the country.

Northern Hai Duong province kicked off construction of three investment projects on April 3: an East-West road with a length of 36.5 km, and two intersections on the Hanoi - Hai Phong Highway, with total investment of more than VND2.1 trillion ($92.84 million). The three projects will strengthen links between Hai Duong and Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and neighboring provinces.

The Ministry of Transport will begin eight important traffic projects before the end of the year, including six road projects nationwide and two waterway projects in the Mekong Delta, with total investment of more than VND25 trillion ($1.09 billion). One of the six road projects is the Results-based Operation for Local Bridge Construction and Road Asset Management project (LRAMP) in 50 cities and provinces, with investment of more than VND9.2 trillion ($400.33 million) from the World Bank’s ODA fund and counterpart capital from Vietnam.

Three traffic projects passing through the Mekong Delta’s Dong Thap province have been prioritized by the Ministry of Transport (MoT) for receiving capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period: the Cao Lanh - An Huu Highway, National Highway No. 30, and the My An - Cao Lanh Highway, with total capital of about VND7.75 trillion ($343.28 million).

Construction at 25 key traffic projects in Ho Chi Minh City will resume after October 1, when social distancing is brought to an end.

The Hanoi Department of Transport has permitted six key traffic projects in the capital to continue during the current social distancing period. Contractors assigned by the department have committed to undertaking pandemic prevention measures.
