More Vietnamese seafood firms licensed to export to Taiwan (China)

Taiwan (China) has further expanded its list of eligible Vietnamese seafood facilities, bringing the total number of authorized enterprises to 787.

According to the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (Taiwan, China), the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) recently announced the official results of its review and updated the list of Vietnamese seafood enterprises permitted to export to this market.

Following a process of review, inspection, and evaluation based on proposals from the Vietnamese side, the TFDA approved the addition of 12 enterprises to the authorized list. Furthermore, information was updated for 10 existing facilities—including one enterprise that had its export eligibility reinstated—while four enterprises were removed from the list.

The TFDA’s periodic review and publication of the authorized list is a key measure to ensure food safety standards, quality control, and traceability for seafood products imported into Taiwan (China). This serves as a vital foundation for Vietnamese businesses to register new facilities, maintain stable export operations, and enhance their ability to access and expand their market share in the region.

Notably, this marks the second update in just two months. It is the result of close coordination between the National Authority for Agro-Forestry-Fishery Quality, Processing, and Market Development under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and competent authorities in Taiwan (China) to update business information on the Imported Food Digital Management System (IFDM).

The successful completion of two consecutive updates in a short period demonstrates the effectiveness of the coordination mechanism between the two regulatory bodies. This has significantly shortened processing times and created more favorable conditions for businesses in their export activities.

According to TFDA regulations, effective from December 24, 2023, seafood products manufactured at facilities on the approved list are eligible for export to the Taiwanese market.
