Most people in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have now returned to work after the week-long Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.
The Hanoi Confederation of Labor reported that over 83 per cent of businesses at industrial parks and export processing zones in the capital have resumed operations, with nearly 95 per cent of their workers returning.
Over 95 per cent of workers in Ho Chi Minh City have also returned.
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said the socio-economic situation is predicted to continue to develop sustainably in the time to come so operations will soon stabilize. The labor market will continue to recover with increasing recruitment demand expected.
However, it also noted that production and trade in some sectors continue to face difficulties from falling order numbers, such as garments and textiles, footwear, and wooden product processing.
