The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has directed the My Thuan project management board to accelerate and complete the construction of the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway section before December 31.

The project is part of the Eastern North-South Expressway and has total investment of nearly VND4.9 billion ($204 million).

The 23-km link will pass through Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces and have six lanes and a roadbed width of 32.25 meters.

Construction began in 2021 and was scheduled for completion last April. However, the project was delayed due to Covid-19, difficulties in site clearance, and a shortage of construction materials.

The MoT then allowed the investor to extend the deadline for the project’s completion to the end of 2023.
