New bridges to span Red River in Hanoi

Tuấn Khang -

Investment in three major bridges using public budget funds approved by authorities.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has announced the approval of investments for the construction of three bridges across the Red River: Tu Lien, Tran Hung Dao, and Ngoc Hoi. The decision was revealed following the conclusions of Hanoi Chairman Tran Sy Thanh.

He approved the investment in these three projects using public budget funds. The Tu Lien Bridge and its connecting road to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway will be built with public investment following the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract model.

The Tran Hung Dao Bridge will also use public funds. The Hanoi Department of Transport has been tasked with preparing a pre-feasibility study, which is to be submitted to relevant authorities for appraisal and approval by February 2025.

Ngoc Hoi Bridge and its approach roads, meanwhile, will similarly be funded through public investment.

The Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture is responsible for advising on and proposing to the Hanoi People’s Committee the organization of an architectural design competition for the bridges spanning the Red River, with a report expected by December.
