Authorities of north-central Nghe An province have agreed to adjust the project building the Cua Lo Deep-water Port in Nghi Loc district.
Under the new plan, the port will be expanded by 10ha to cover 20 ha in total. Its water surface usage will also increase from 200 ha to 208.15 ha to build offshore facilities such as wharfs and seadyke.
It will be designed to accommodate vessels of 50,000-100,000 DWT, instead of 30,000-50,000 DWT as initially projected.
Accordingly, the project’s total investment capital will be increased to over VND7.32 trillion ($288 million) from the initial VND3.896 trillion ($182 million).
Construction will be divided into two phases.
The first phase will focus on building wharfs No.6 and 7 with an estimated investment capital of over VND5.25 trillion ($206 million) in the 2024-2028 period, 1,200-m sea dyke and other facilities.
In the second phase from 2029-2030, more than VND2 trillion ($81.4 million) will be invested in building the wharf No.5, expanding the sea dyke and other transport and technical work.
