Anh Tú -

Expansion to section in northern province estimated to cost $84 million.

The Department of Transport in northern Ninh Binh province has proposed the Ministry of Transport invest in expanding the Cao Bo - Mai Son section of the Eastern North-South Expressway.

Under the proposal, the section will be expanded to six lanes from four with estimated investment of over VND2 trillion ($84 million).

The 15.2-km Cao Bo - Mai Son section was put into operation in April 2022, with total investment of over VND1.6 trillion ($67.2 million).

It runs from National Highway No. 1A in Ninh Binh province’s Yen Mo district to the end of the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh section in Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province.

Traffic congestion is common along the route due to rising numbers of vehicles, with expansions now needed to meet travel demand and ensure traffic safety, according to the transport department.
