More than 191,000 individuals and organizations have engaged in trade activities via 357 e-commercial floors registered with tax agencies, according to the General Department of Taxation.
Total transaction value reached nearly VND59 trillion ($2.45 billion).
Reviewing the implementation of the master plan on tax management over e-commerce at a recent meeting, the General Department of Taxation also reported that by the end of the third quarter of this year, 74 cross-border service providers had paid taxes of nearly VND11.5 trillion ($479 million) via the department’s portal for foreign providers.
Director Mai Xuan Thanh said the rapid development of e-commerce has posed difficulties for tax management.
The scale of the e-commerce market in Vietnam is expected to reach $21.3 billion in 2023 and $57 billion by 2025.
In order to enhance tax management over e-commerce and trade activities via digital platforms and facilitate tax registration and payments, the department launched a portal for foreign service providers on March 21, 2022.
It also launched an e-commerce information portal on December 15, 2022.
