The Phu Yen Provincial People’s Committee has proposed that the Ministry of Transport add the Tuy Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot railway line to the master planning of the national railway network in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.
Tuy Hoa is the capital of the south-central province, while Buon Ma Thuot is the capital of the central highlands’ Dak Lak province.
Investment in the railway is needed to help complete the province’s transport infrastructure and connect economic zones and localities in the coastal central with the central highlands, according to Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ta Anh Tuan.
The Prime Minister approved adjustments in 2015 to the master plan on developing Vietnam’s railway network by 2020 with a vision to 2030.
Under planning, the Prime Minister allowed the study and construction of railways linking localities in the central highlands, including the 169-km Tuy Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot line, the 550-km Dak Nong - Kon Tum - Dak Lak - Binh Phuoc line, and the 121-km Dak Nong - Binh Thuan line, by 2030.
