Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked authorities in northern Bac Kan province to focus on developing its forest-based economy and tourism, which are both considered breakthrough measures in boosting socio-economic development.
At a working session with provincial authorities on July 16, Prime Minister Chinh said the province should tap the potential and strengths of its forests, rivers, and lakes, especially Ba Be Lake.
The government leader directed the province to focus on the three spearheads of carbon credit trading, biomass electricity, and the pharmaceutical industry in developing a forest-based economy.
Meanwhile, tourism development should be based on the province’s beautiful, majestic landscapes and traditional culture, he said.
In order to fulfill the target of having a dynamic economy with a relatively high level of development compared to other localities in the country by 2050, Prime Minister Chinh suggested the province pay greater attention to transport infrastructure, public investment, and the construction of industrial parks and industrial clusters.
He also pointed to the need to step up investment attraction, push ahead with the implementation of public investment projects, and further support enterprises and cooperatives in promoting their products, expanding markets, and improving production and business capacity.
