Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the diplomatic sector to seek new opportunities and maximize external resources to further Vietnam’s development.
Speaking at a teleconference on January 10 to review diplomatic tasks in 2022 and set orientations for 2023, Prime Minister Chinh said the diplomatic sector needs to strongly bring the role of economic diplomacy into play in expanding and diversifying export markets.
The diplomatic sector was also advised to continue to develop relations with partners in a substantive, stable, and sustainable manner, and improve the “strategic” nature of ties with neighboring and world powers and strategic and comprehensive partners.
He also instructed the sector to continue to promote Vietnam’s image and stature.
Diplomatic activities were substantive and increasingly stable and sustainable in 2022, the Prime Minister said. He spoke highly of encouraging results seen in multilateral, vaccine, and economic diplomacy, the protection of and care for overseas Vietnamese, and border demarcation and marker planting.
