Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to continue taking measures to promote connection between the Vietnamese economy with other countries, economic regions, and economies worldwide, connect global businesses with Vietnamese firms in order to capitalize on opportunities for development.
He made the request while chairing a teleconference with heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad on July 18 to discuss the promotion of economic diplomacy to boost the country's economic growth in the second half of 2024 and the following years, the Government News has reported.
He asked the overseas representative agencies to focus on promoting exports by boosting trade promotion activities to introduce Vietnamese products and the country’s business and investment environment.
He pointed to the need to expand Middle Eastern and South American markets, increase the export of Halal products, and accelerate the negotiation and signing of FTAs with countries in the Middle East, Africa, and South America.
Together with enterprises, ministries, and sectors, the agencies were instructed to seek new and breakthrough measures to attract investment and finance for development, call for technology transfer from foreign partners, and grasp scientific - technological development trends.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that economic diplomacy has yielded positive outcomes in the first six months of the year, with many more cooperative agreements signed with partners, as a result. The country has welcomed many big foreign groups such as NVIDIA, Apple, Intel, Google, Infosys, Siemens and business delegations comprising hundreds of companies from North Europe, the US, Canada and Japan.
