Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked for efforts to speed up the Ho Chi Minh City – Thu Dau Mot – Chon Thanh expressway while examining the site clearance of the project’s section in southern Binh Duong province on September 26.

The 70-km expressway, running from Ho Chi Minh City through Binh Duong to Binh Phuoc province, has a total investment capital estimated at over VND17.4 trillion ($702 million).

The project has two sub-projects. The first section runs from Ho Chi Minh City  to Thu Dau Mot city in Binh Duong province; and the second from Thu Dau Mot to Chon Thanh district  in Binh Phuoc province.

The first section, 45.6 km long, will be invested in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) with estimated capital of VND16.1 trillion ($649 million).

In the first phase, the expressway will have four lanes with a roadbed width of 25.5m, allowing a maximum speed of 100 kph.

Binh Duong province is accelerating site clearance task and completing procedures to select  investor for the project in order to start the construction in November this year.

The project is expected for completion in 2027.
