Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a dispatch calling for measures to remove obstacles and promote agricultural production and consumption and to fight illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Attention should be paid to administrative reform to attract more investment in agriculture and rural areas, targeting investors that use high-technology and specialize in intensive processing, according to the dispatch.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment is tasked with coordinating with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and relevant agencies to quickly perfect a decree amending and supplementing certain articles of a decree on mechanisms and policies encouraging investment in agriculture and rural areas.
The government leader asked for more focus on the three growth engines of domestic consumption, exports, and investment. Meanwhile, digital transformation and high-tech application should be stepped up to raise production values and efficiency as well as the competitiveness of Vietnamese products.
Regarding the fight against IUU fishing, the dispatch called for more drastic action and thorough preparations for the fourth inspection by the European Commission (EC), slated for May 25-31. Strong measures will be taken to handle violations of fishing regulations by individuals and organizations, and inspections will be intensified to prevent violations.
