Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked south-central Khanh Hoa province to urgently complete the master plan to develop Truong Sa island district into a national center of economy and socio-culture at sea and a solid defense area.
The plan must be submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration in the third quarter of this year.
At a working session with provincial authorities on April 1, he also asked the province to mobilize all resources for development, improve the effectiveness of investment attraction and use, and focus on the three key economic regions - Van Phong Economic Zone, Nha Trang city, and Cam Ranh Bay.
Measures were also needed to accelerate the disbursement of public investment and speed up the progress of essential, key projects, especially the Van Phong - Nha Trang and Buon Ma Thuot - Khanh Hoa Expressway projects, the Prime Minister said.
Khanh Hoa needs to better conduct planning tasks, quicken economic restructuring in tandem with reform of the growth model based on science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation, and improve personnel quality.
The province recorded GDRP growth of 20.7 per cent year-on-year in 2022 and export revenue of $1.6 billion.
